This is a The VAM-1B coin is one of several known peace dollar VAMs with a die break in the hair. In actuality, there are two variations of the VAM-1B, yes two different die break varieties aliased in the same VAM... shouldn't be but they are. Further complicating matters, it has been noted that NGC has attributed at least one as the VAM-1B. Fortunately, both breaks are visible to the naked eye so differentiating shouldn't be too difficult. (In NGC's defense, at leats one of those attributions was made prior to the VAM-1V discovery and was, as such, an excusable issue that was see also at other TPGs.)
